Joan Darling née McMahon née Clark
Our mother, Joan Darling, closed her eyes for the last time on Wednesday, 12th April 2023, in the care of her family and the amazing staff of Harold's Cross Hospice.
Joan the wonderful strong person that she was fought her long illness with courage and dignity. She lead a full life reaching her 90th Birthday last January.
She was very much loved and will be missed terribly by her heartbroken daughter Karen, son Roy, beloved grandchildren Aimee and Niall and their respective partners, brother, sister, sister in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, especially Georgina, Lynn, Andrew, great-grandchildren and her wide circle of friends.
Joan considered it a great honour to serve as the Vice President of the Girls Brigade Ireland, even through her illness she kept herself informed and in touch with members.
Her involvement with Girls Brigade spans over many decades. She was passionate about working with youth and met any challenges that came her way with determination, creativity and integrity.
The family wishes to thank Rev. John Tanner and her friends from Tullow Church for their support.
We will never forget the kindness and care shown to Joan by all the staff in Harold's Cross Hospice.
Rest In Peace
If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend her Memorial Service on Sunday, 23rd of April 2023, at Tullow Church, Foxrock, at 3pm, that we are holding in her honour.
It was Joan's wish to have family flowers only, donations, if desired, to The Irish Blue Cross Animal Welfare Charity. As an animal lover this charity was close to her heart.
