Joanie MacCarthy

Joanie MacCarthy née O’Connor of London and formerly Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry, died peacefully on 8th April 2026, after a long and courageous battle, surrounded by her heartbroken family, predeceased by her parents John and Peggy, adored wife of John, cherished mother of Shona, Shane & Jenna and dear sister of Pat, Larry & Tim.

 

 

 

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Hannah, Joni, Elle, Harriet & Indie, sons-in-law Gus & Jer, daughter-in-law Gemma, brother-in-law Derry & Billy, sisters-in-law Norrie, Eileen, Kate and Elaine together with Mary McCarthy & Joan Quirke, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Joanie’s Funeral Mass will take place at St Peter-in-Chains, Crouch End on Thursday 7th May at 2pm (streamed at Church of St. Peter in Chains- Webcam). A memorial service will be held in St. Mary’s Church Ballyheigue later in the year with details to follow.

 

 

 

 

Joanie’s family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted friends Mary Donnelly and Sheila & Brian Presley, whose unwavering support to Joanie, John and the wider family meant so much throughout her illness.
