John died peacefully at University Hospital, Galway surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Patrick, brothers Michael, Seamus, Willie and Thomas and by his nephew Ivan.
He will be very sadly missed, mourned by and always remembered by his brothers Patrick and Anthony, sisters-in-law Marie and Floss, nephews and nieces, the extended Canavan family and friends.
May his gentle soul rest in peace

Sunday, 28th December 2025
John will lie in repose at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, (H91 V1K8) from 4.00 p.m. to 5 p.m. No Removal to the Church this evening.
Monday, 29th December 2025
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for John at St. Joseph's Church, Presentation Road on arrival at 11 a.m. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Rahoon Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed.

Parking and entrance to the funeral parlour.
Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park. Street parking may be available on Fr. Griffin Road, within Claddagh, on Henry Street and Sea Road. Parking may be scarce on Munster Avenue.
Car Parks within walking distance of the parlour: The Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch and Mill Street which is adjacent to the Garda Station.
