John Gates

John Gates (Sandyford and formerly of Harold’s Cross) – March 18th, 2026. Passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s University Hospital while surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Deirdre (née Lacey) and cherished father of Andrew, Maurice, Justine, Chris, Redmond, Sarah and the late baby Jack, and much-loved brother of Sr. Mary Frances, Gerardine and the late Patrick.

Sadly missed and forever remembered by all his loving family, daughters-in-law Susie, Ailbhe and Adriana, sons-in-law Pete and Tom, his adored grandchildren Christina, Killian, Carla, Jamie, Juliette, Mabel, Elsie, Shea, Rosie and Raffie, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends from Old Wesley RFC and former colleagues from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

John will repose at JP Ward & Sons Funeral Home, Sandyford Village (D18 C8P7) on Monday evening (Mar 23rd) from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Tuesday morning (Mar 24th) to St. Mary’s Church, Sandyford Village arriving for 11am Mass, followed thereafter to Kilternan Cemetery Park, Ballycorus Road, Kilternan.
