John Gillespie

John Gillespie, Carragorru, Knockmore, Ballina, Co. Mayo. Peacefully, after a brief illness. Predeceased by his niece Elizabeth and brothers-in-law John Loftus and Seamus Lohan. Adored and only brother of Mary Loftus (Hawthorn Avenue, Castlebar) and Kathleen Lohan (Dalgan Road, Shrule). Cherished uncle of Marie, Christine, James & Helena, John, Jennifer, David & Darragh. Beloved granduncle of James, Seán & Rory, Méadhbh & Donnacha, Florence & Heather.  Deeply regretted by his loving family, cousins, neighbours and friends; in particular his many friends and wonderful carers in Áras Attracta, Swinford, where he spent many happy years.

Removal from the family home in Carragorru, Knockmore,  on Wednesday morning at 11am to The Church of Christ the King, Knockmore, for Requiem mass at  11.30am. Funeral afterwards to Cloghans Cemetery where John will be laid to rest with his parents.

For those who would like to pay their respects as the funeral cortège passes en route to the church, please stand in a socially distanced manner on the streets, roadsides, outside the church and cemetery ensuring public health and safety is being upheld to the highest standard.

Those who would like to attend the funeral but cannot due to current restrictions can leave a message of sympathy in the condolence section below. The Gillespie family would like to thank you for your kindness, sympathy and understanding at this time.

Due to government advice and guidelines regarding public gatherings and to protect our most vulnerable family members and our friends, John’s funeral Mass will be for family and friends, limited to 50 people. Face coverings to be worn in the church, please.
