On the 11th of February, 2026, John Joe passed away peacefully, in his 91st year, at University Hospital Galway, with his loving family by his side.
Predeceased by his loving wife Philomena, infant son Patrick, father Hugh, mother Nora, brother Colm and sister Kathleen.
John Joe will be sadly missed by his daughter Marie, sons Hugh and Martin, daughters-in-law Michelle and Fiona, his 8 cherished grandchildren Cavanagh, Dalian, Bronwyn, Oisín, Taidgh, Caoimhe, Tiernan and Eabheann, great-grandchild Penny, sister-in-law Chrissie, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at The Holy Family Funeral Home, Mervue (H91 FH52), on Friday the 13th of February from 5:00pm followed by removal at 6:30pm to the adjoining church. Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday the 14th of February at 11:00am. John Joe will then be laid to rest with his beloved wife Philomena, in The New Cemetery, Bohermore (H91 V97C).

Please Note: Access to the funeral parlour is through the front entrance of the main church. Wheelchair users or people with mobility issues can access the funeral parlour at ground level from the car park.
