The death has occurred of John Joseph Kelleher from Newtownshandrum, Charleville, Co. Cork and Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain.

Peacefully in his sleep the morning of Saturday, December 28th, 2024 in "La Alborada" nursing home in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain.

Sadly missed by his late wife Cristina (Cantero), children Ella Marie, and John E., grandchildren George and Lesley, son in law Markus (Meier), brother Séamus and sister Betty (Fitzpatrick) and brothers and sisters in law Declan, Maura (deceased), Eloy (deceased), Angelita (deceased), Emilio, Maruja, José Ramón (deceased), Puri, Juan Antonio, Jaime, Rubén (deceased) and Amalita, nieces and nephews, Fiona, Helen, Ian, Lisa, Áine, Stephen, Dónal, Loyi, Ramonín, Gelo (deceased), Mila (deceased), Juan, Kike, Ana Maria, Mayte, Robert, Marili, Pepi (deceased), Jaime, Rafael, Rebeca, Angel, Mario, Gustavo, Ruth, Rubén (deceased), Sara and Alexandra, along with a much longer list of extended family, friends, past pupils and neighbours past and present in Cork, Limerick, Dublin, London, Spain (Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, León, Barcelona and Madrid), Germany (Hagen, Frankfurt and Berlin), and Switzerland (Gstaad).

Cremation in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain on Sunday, December 29th, 2024.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption (Iglesia de la Asunción), Torrelavega on Friday, January 10th in the afternoon, followed by burial of the cremated ashes in the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores) in Barro (Niembro/Llanes), Asturias at 11 am on Saturday January 11th.

There is a Ryanair flight on Friday 10th at 6:50 am from Dublin, returning on Monday 13th at 10:10 with reasonable prices under €100 return. Booking.com has availability at Hotel Marqués de Santillana, and also in the smaller Cuatro Caminos Rooms, and Hotel Boutique Puerta del Sol, all three in Torrelavega town centre. Car rental in Santander airport has several offers also on Booking.com, beware the cheapest options as they have a much higher security deposit fee.
