On Saturday night, 28 October 2023 John died in the wonderful, compassionate care of the Galway Hospice. Deeply loved and loving father of Jack, Tom and Eva who will carry his enduring love, courage and humour with them throughout their lives, in a continuing bond. Survived and cared for by his former partner and mother of his children, Aoife Hennigan.

John was predeceased by his parents Tom and Maggie. He will be forever missed by his adoring sister Marie, his brothers Mark and Andrew and all his nieces and nephews in England. He will also be sadly missed by the extended Mc Guinness and Hennigan family and friends and former teaching colleagues and friends from his years as an English teacher at Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone.

A gathering and reposing will take place on Saturday 04 November from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91V1K8) to provide some time to acknowledge and share memories of John's life. Private cremation has taken place.
