John Murphy

On Jan 16th, 2026, peacefully in his 85th year, in the presence of his loving family at Bantry General Hospital. JOHN (formerly of Coorleigh, Bonane) beloved husband of Jane (née Healy), dear father of Joan (Crowley), Mary (O’Sullivan), Padraig, Con, James and the late baby Stephen, brother of the late Margaret, Mary, Mick, Pat, Jim and Tess and grandfather of the late baby Jack. Sadly missed by his family, sons-in-law Enda and Mike, daughters-in-law Lisa, Lorna and Geraldine, grandchildren Shane, James and Odhran, Darragh and Ellie, Darren, Sam and Faye, Tadhg and Evan, nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.

May he rest in peace.

The Murphy family would like to acknowledge and thank all the staff at Bantry General Hospital, John’s home helps and all the team at Marino Medical for the great care and kindness shown to John, it is very much appreciated.

Reposing at Coakley’s Funeral home, Chapel Street, Bantry, P75 YW58 on Sunday Jan 18th from 4.30pm to 7pm with vigil prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Monday Jan. 19th at 12noon at St. Joseph’s Church, Coomhola, P75 X043 (to view live stream please click here) followed by burial in Kilmacomogue Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if desired to the Friends of Bantry General Hospital.
