Joseph (Joe) MITCHELL

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Joseph (Joe) MITCHELL, March 1, 2026, (peacefully) at Creagh Suite, Ballinasloe, surrounded by his loving family - a native of Belcarra, Castlebar, Co Mayo, also lived for many years in Clontarf, Dublin and in more recent times in Headford, Co Galway; pre-deceased by his brother Johnny and in 2022 by his adored daughter Jaki.

Joe is sadly mourned by his wife of 64 years, Maura (nee Murray, Bishopsgate St., Mullingar). His loving and much loved daughter Sinead, her partner Garret, treasured grandsons Calum and Ruadh, his siblings Maureen Mayock, Tommy, Gerry and Phyllis Mitchell, sisters-in-law Grainne Gilhooley, Terri Brady, Betty Mitchell and Lynn Mitchell, Jaki's husband Neil, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Reposing at Shaws Funeral Home, Bishopsgate St., Mullingar (N91 RY65) on Tuesday, March 3, from 3.30 o'c. concluding with prayers at 5.30 o'c. Removal to the Friary, Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath (N91 X279) arriving at 6.30 o'c. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 12.00 o'c. followed by burial in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Multyfarnham.

Joe’s family sincerely thank Dr James McLoughlin and his Team at Creagh Suite, Ballinasloe, for the exceptional care provided to Joe for 3 years, their kindness and compassion shown to Maura and Sinead will never be forgotten.

We also wish to thank the Palliative Care team from Galway Hospice, who worked closely with Creagh Suite providing comfort and care to Joe during his final days.
