The death has occurred of Josephine Butler (nee Kelly) Ballysallagh, Johnswell, Kilkenny and formally of Rosscahill Co Galway.

With profound sadness, Josephine's family share the news of her passing on the 4th of April 2026 following an illness bravely borne.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her heartbroken family, in the excellent and compassionate care of the staff of the Suir Ward, St Luke's Hospital Kilkenny.

Predeceased by her dear father Patrick (Paddy) Kelly.

Josephine will be forever loved and deeply missed by her devoted husband Seán her cherished children Oisín, Rebecca and Emily, her devoted mother Maureen, her brothers and sisters Patricia (USA), Gerard (Clifden), Felicity (Limerick), Ronan (Rosscahill), Therese (Rosscahill) and Noel (Rosscahill) and her treasured nieces and nephews, sisters in law, brothers in law, extended family, her wide circle of kind and loyal friends, neighbours and her colleagues in Tusla.

Reposing at her home on Easter Sunday (eircode R95 W421) from 3 o' clock with prayers at 7 o'clock.

Requiem mass will be celebrated for Josephine at 12 noon on Monday, in the Church of St John the Baptist Johnswell, Kilkenny (eircode R95 V978), following mass Josephine will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
