The death has occurred of Kathleen Ruane (née O’Callaghan), 50 Rowan Drive, Castlebar and formerly of 3 Mons Terrace, Breaffy Road, Castlebar, on 19th July 2023, in the loving care of the Mayo Hospice. Predeceased by her loving husband Michael and her son Thomas and daughter Rose Catherine. Dearly loved mother of Geraldine Foley (Trim, Co. Meath), Bernadette Mohan (Castlebar), Michael, Thomas, Paul and Martin (all Castlebar), Julie McTigue (Ross, Castlebar) and Adrian (Castlebar), her sister Noreen Hamilton (UK), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Kathleen who was 88 years lost her beloved husband Michael 30 years ago. She was a family woman and she was devoted to her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved shopping and Marguerite’s Boutique and TK Max were two of her favourites. She loved travelling and especially visiting her daughter Geraldine in County Meath. She even made the long trip to visit her late sister Julie Evans in Australia. But she was happiest at home cooking and baking and taking care of everyone. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she doted on.

Kathleen will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home on Friday, 21st July, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. The funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar on Saturday morning for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Afterwards she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband and predeceased children in Castlebar Old Cemetery.
