Kevin O'Farrell

We would like to announce the death of our beloved dad Kevin O'Farrell, on the 27th July 2022. When looking for words to sum him up, we could not have found a more apt description with the meaning of the word O'Farrell being 'Valient Warrior'. Dad passed away surrounded by love, and in the exceptional care of the staff in St Christopher's ward in Marymount Hospice. He fought his cancer diagnosis with courage, dignity, stoicism, a wicked sense of humour, and, when he was up to it, with a pint of Guinness in his hand. Dad never did things by halves. He ALWAYS made us laugh, no matter how difficult or dark the situation. He was an excellent raconteur and mimick, and no one was spared. He had an ability to make friends across the generations. He was some man for one man. He had an unbelievable quick wit. For a man who had hands like shovels, he was immensely gentle, kind and compassionate. He loved meeting and socialising with people, no more so, than on the golf course, his favourite place to be.  

He will be forever missed and loved by us, his children, David, Paul and Susie. His wife of 48 years Aggie (nee O'Gorman), who predeceased him by a mere 12 days. His eight grandchildren, Clodagh, Killian, Aisling, Sarah, Kate, Kevin, Zoe and Rachel. His Daughters in law, Shelly and Grainne. His son in law, friend, man on the bag and anytime golfing partner, David. His brother Michael and sister in law Ann. His best friends Billy and Raj, his extended family, nephews, nieces, cousin and friends, of which there are too many to mention. Kevin is predeceased by his brother Niall.

Thursday 5.00.pm. - 7.00.pm.

To honour him, we will be celebrating his life with a humanist service on Saturday the 30th of July, at the Island Crematorium at 3pm, ALL WELCOME, so bring your stories of him, as we remember a wonderful man.
