Laurence (Larry) Murtagh

Farranree, Cork / Palmerstown, Dublin

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Laurence Murtagh, Pophams Road, Farranree, who passed away in his 94th year, on the 25th of September, peacefully after a short illness bravely borne surrounded by his loving family, in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff in Ward GC at Corks University Hospital. Larry “The Da” Late of Palmerstown Dublin, The Irish Navy and C.I.E Irish Rail, Cork. Dearly beloved husband of the late Julia. (née McSweeney) Adored father to Kathleen, Ann, Sheila, Laurence, and Francis. Brother of Kitty. Predeceased by his sisters Nan and Breda, grand-daughter Alanna and Kathleen’s partner Hugh.

 

Sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren Tracey, Janis, Melissa, Alex, Rachel, Laura, Emily and his only grandson Jack, great grand daughter Chelsea, great grandsons, Louie, Rian, Tadhg, daughters-in-law Norma, Kim, Ann, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and all his family at St. Francis Gardens Day Centre, Ard na Rí Day Centre in Farranree and large circle of friends.


May Larry’s soul Rest in Peace

Reposing at Keohane’s Funeral Home, Knights Hill, Old Youghal Road, Mayfield, Cork, on Sunday, the 28th of September the from 3-4pm, with prayers at 3:45pm.
Requiem Mass on Monday, the 29th of September at 1pm in The Church of the Resurrection, Farranree, followed by burial in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Kilcully.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and all the Hospital Staff on Ward GC for their kindness and exceptional care shown to Larry during his short illness.
