Liam Sammon

Formerly of Killupan, Ahascragh, Co. Galway. Liam passed away peacefully in University Hospital Galway on Monday, the 18th of August, 2025, with his loving family by his side, after a short illness borne with dignity.

Predeceased by his parents Tom and Katie, his infant brother Francis, his brother Seán, his nephew Darren Sammon and his brothers-in-law Michael Healy, John Sheerin and Bobby Cunniffe.

Liam will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend Mary, their son Bobby, his sisters Marie Sheerin (London), Angela Cahill (Clonbrock), Ailene Carroll (Clonbrock), Vera Healy (Castleffrench), his brothers Peter (Oughterard) and Michael (Ballinasloe), aunts Peggy Igoe and Molly Orchard, uncle Joe Sammon, brothers-in-law Jimmy Cahill and Joe Carroll, sisters-in-law Mary Sammon, Anja Sammon and Sheila Walsh, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, relatives as well as a wide circle of friends and neighbours in the communities of Castlelawn and Ahascragh.

Liam will repose at his home in 201 Castlelawn Heights (H91 D57X) on Tuesday, the 19th of August, from 5pm to 7pm and at his home in Killupan, Ahascragh (H53 E2D5) on Wednesday, the 20th of August, from 5pm to 7pm. Private Removal on Thursday to St. Cuan's Church, Ahascragh (H53 EH76) for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Ahascragh New Cemetery.

Liam’s family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph's Ward, University Hospital Galway, the oncology team, nursing staff and the palliative care team for their wonderful care and dedication to Liam and his family in his final weeks.
