In the early hours of Thursday, 11th December 2025, Malachy completed his life’s journey in the loving care of his family and in the care of the staff of Galway University Hospital.

Predeceased by his parents William and Elizabeth, his beloved wife Bernadette and more recently in 2024 by his adored grandson Stephen of 2 years.

Deeply mourned by his sons Austin and Nigel, daughters-in-law Sinéad and Caroline, cherished grandchildren Catherine, Tommy and Chloe, brother Robert and sisters Mary, Breeda and Kathryn, nieces, nephews and the extended Concannon family.

Remembered also by his carers Arnel, Leah and Melanie, colleagues and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Friday, 12th December 2025 : Malachy will lie in Repose at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91 V1K8) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, 13th December 2025 : Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Malachy on arrival to St. Mary’s Church, Claddagh at 11.30 a.m. Following Mass, he will be laid to rest with his wife Bernadette in Forthill cemetery.
