GOOR - Margaret, “Magsie”, née Ronan, died peacefully in her home of 45 years, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, at 09:30 on Tuesday 1st October 2024 at the age of 89 years. She was surrounded by her loving family, amazing carers, longtime friends, and her beloved dogs. Magsie’s big laugh and magnanimous nature brought joy to all who encountered her. She was a caring and loyal wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, an adored violin teacher and a great friend and mentor to so many.
Born in Cobh, Co. Cork, she married the late John Goor in 1960. They enjoyed a long marriage of nearly 60 years. Together they traveled and sailed the world, alone and with friends. Their home was warm and welcoming, filled with fun, music, and parties. Magsie had a listening ear and open heart for everyone no matter where they came from.
Magsie is survived by her two older sisters, Rosemary and Jean, her 3 children, Sabine, Monique, and Louis and her 5 grandchildren, Quinn, Ignaz, Heidi, George and Charlotte.
Magsie will be at home on Friday (October 4) from 5pm to 8pm – you are welcome to join us.
Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday (October 5) at 11 am in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Enniskerry, afterwards to Curtlestown Cemetery, Co. Wicklow. For those unable to attend the Mass in person, you may join us online here: https://enniskerryparish.ie/parish-webcam/
