Margaret Smyth (née McGonagle), College Road, Mountbellew, Co. Galway & Market Street, Trim Co. Meath, passed away peacefully at Ballinderry Nursing Home, Kilconnell, Co. Galway on the 3rd March 2026.

Predeceased by her husband Laurence (Larry) & their daughter Emma Jane. Beloved daughter of the late Hugh & Kathleen McGonagle, predeceased by her siblings Eugene (E.M.), Albert, Beatrice (née McNally) & Pat.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her sons Barry & Lorcan, daughters-in-law Breege & Sarah, grandchildren Ryan, Oisín, Éabha & Caoilinn. Brothers Sean & Brian, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours & friends.

May Margaret Rest in Peace.

Reposing at the Franciscan College Oratory, Mountbellew (H53 WE00) on Thursday 5th March, from 6pm to 8pm.

Funeral Mass will take place on Friday 6th March, at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church, Mountbellew, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.
