Mark Acheson

Artane, Dublin / Clontarf, Dublin

Acheson - Mark (Artane/Clontarf) 29th October 2022, unexpectedly and peacefully at Beaumont Hospital surrounded by his family and Reverend Lesley Robinson. Beloved husband of Jean and adored father of Kim and Sam. Sadly missed by his loving family - his mother Iris, sisters Olly and Ann, brothers David and Derek, Jean’s mother Dorothy and her brothers Alan and Brian, in-laws and partners Liam, Larry, Amy, Siobhán, Patricia, Adrienne and Ida, nieces and nephews Cian, Ríona, Shanna, Elvis, Ava, Ezra, Zoë, Abi, Sarah A, Emma, Sarah P and Brian, extended family, and countless friends. Predeceased by his father Steve and father-in-law Ivan with whom he has now been reunited in Heaven.

 

Mark was a devoted lifelong parishioner of the Church of St. John the Baptist, Seafield Road West, Clontarf, and the current President of the Boys’ Brigade in Ireland. He was a Lay Reader in the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough and while based in Clontarf was delighted to fill in or assist in many churches on the Northside of Dublin. He was on the Board of SPADE; a proud Past President of the Mountjoy/Mount Temple Past Pupils’ Association, and over the years was involved in many different youth work roles including those with DCY/CIYC/NYCI. In his working life, Mark forged many great friendships through his roles in PMPA/AXA, in the Clontarf Business Association and in Abbey Presbyterian Church on Parnell Square.

Reposing (Open Coffin) in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Seafield Road West, Clontarf between 5pm to 7pm Thursday, 3rd November, 2022, followed by a short service at 8pm (Closed Coffin). Funeral service on Friday (4th November) at 10am in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Seafield Road West, Clontarf, with burial afterwards at St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton. Refreshments at the Parish Centre, Seafield Road West after the Funeral Service for those not attending the burial and also after the burial.

 

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made, if desired, to Beaumont Hospital at the church or online here
