Martin and Tom Oliver

The Claddagh, Galway City, Galway

Father and son, Martin and Tom Oliver passed away following a fishing accident and are deeply mourned by their heartbroken, grieving family and friends; by Martin’s daughter and Tom’s sister Susanne, by Eileen (Tom and Susanne's mother), Martin's adored granddaughter and very special niece to Tom,   Martin's brothers and sisters Tom, Paddy, Marie, Patricia, Helen, Martina and Bernie, by  Susanne's husband, Martin's nephews and nieces and Tom’s cousins, their families, the Griffin family, the fishing community at large and their friends including Tricia, Pete and Paddy.

 

A Private Requiem Mass for Martin and Tom  will be celebrated on Friday, 6th November at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, The Claddagh and will take place in line with current Government guidelines (25 people in attendance at the Church).  This Mass will not be live streamed. 

 

Father and son will be interred side by side in Rahoon Cemetery following Mass. Our hope for both wonderful men is that they may rest in eternal peace with their pre-deceased loved ones.

Route for the Funeral Cortege on Friday

Walking beside  the hearses from Martin’s house at 10.20 a.m. via Fr. Burke Road,  Grattan Road,  Frenchville and along by  the swamp/south park towards the Church. We would ask people not to form close contact groups or clusters behind the hearse but perhaps stand on the path as the hearses pass by.

If you would like to be present along the route please do so by following social distancing guidelines.  As a mark of respect to Martin and Tom  the cortege will drive from the Church after Mass to Rahoon Cemetery via Long Walk and the Docks. House Private and no flowers please.
