Martin Carty

The death has occurred of Martin Carty, Oldthort, Portumna, a retired member of An Garda Siochána and formerly of Tulla Hill, Loughrea and Derrygarron, Portlaoise.

Martin passed peacefully from this life on 3rd September, at home, surrounded by his family, after a short illness, bravely borne.

Predeceased by his parents Tommy and Bobbi and baby brother, Stephen.

Martin will be sadly missed and forever loved by his heartbroken wife and best friend, Pauline, cherished daughters Nathalie, Lorraine and Denise and son Robert, sisters Teresa and Sr Bridie, brother, Sean, sons in law, Noel Power, James Fitzsimons and Deon De Klerk, daughter in law Claire.

Martin was a much adored Grandad to Joshua, Sienna Mai, Bradley, Liam, Alexia, Jack and Charlie. He will be sadly missed by his sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, cousins, neighbours, former colleagues and a wide circle of friends.

Martin will repose at his home for family, friends and neighbours to visit over the coming days. The funeral cortege will leave from his home at 2:50pm on Monday for Requiem Mass in St Brigid's Church, Portumna at 3.30pm, travelling via Brendan's Street. Patrick St and Abbey St. Burial will take place after Mass in St Michael's Cemetery. With the easing of restrictions from September 6th, attendance in the church is now permitted at 50% capacity.
