Martin Lavelle, Shanahee, Belmullet, Co. Mayo peacefully at the Mayo Hospice, Castlebar surrounded by his loving family on 21st December 2025.

Predeceased by his parents John and Kathleen Lavelle, sister Bridget, brother Seamus and brother in law Paddy Joe Conway.

Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Karen, Seán, Martina, Christine, Eilish and James and cherished grandfather to Kate, Patrick, James, Daniel, Ryan, Adam, David and Chloe. Martin will sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, sons in law Colm McDonnell (Kildare), James Lavelle (Belmullet) and Brendan Barry (Kilkenny), brother Seán (Kiltimagh), sisters Mary Hall (London) and Roseanne McDonagh (Galway), sisters in law Theresa Lavelle, Mary Lavelle and Teresa Garvin, brothers in law Michael Hall, Martin McDonagh, Michael Moran, Noel Conway and Martin Francis Conway, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, kind neighbours and many friends.

May His Kind and Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Martin will lie in repose at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Tuesday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock with the funeral arriving at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Shanahee at 8.30. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11 o’clock followed by burial at Emlybeg Cemetery.

Live-streaming of the Funeral Mass will be available for viewing on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock on McDonnell Funeral Directors Facebook page with all other funeral services available for viewing on Wednesday evening at 5 o’clock.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to the “Cara Iorrais” and “Belmullet Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association”, c/o McDonnell Funeral Directors, Belmullet.
