Martin Leneghan

Martin Leneghan, Muingtreania, Geesala, Ballina, Co. Mayo peacefully at the Belmullet Community Hospital on 31st March 2021. Predeceased by his brothers John (Mountjubilee, Bangor Erris) and Michael Sonny (Muingtreania, Geesala), Celia Lindsay (Muingtreania, Geesala) and Margaret Barrett (Mountjubilee, Bangor Erris). Beloved husband of Anne (née Goonan) and dear father of Cathy Sweeney (Killashandra, Co. Cavan), Michael (Dublin) and Mark (Muingtreania, Geesala). He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, grandchildren Siobhán and Anthony, daughter-in-law Irene Leneghan, son-in-law Tom Sweeney, brother-in-law Michael Goonan, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Remains will depart from McDonnells Funeral Home, Belmullet on Good Friday at 12 noon and travelling via the Grassmeal Road enroute to Family Home in Muintreania.  Funeral will depart from the Family Home on Easter Sunday at 11.30am, arriving at St. Colmcille’s Church, Geesala for Funeral Mass at 12 noon  followed by burial in Geesala Cemetery.

In keeping with current Government advice and H.S.E. guidelines regarding public gatherings, Martin’s funeral will be private for immediate family only. For those who would like to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passes through the town, villages and enroute to the church and cemetery, please stand in a socially distanced manner on the streets, roadsides, outside the church and cemetery ensuring public health and safety is being upheld to the highest standard. The Leneghan family appreciate your understanding at this difficult time.

Memorial Mass for the soul of Martin will be held at a later date. For those who cannot attend due to restrictions, please leave a personal message for the family on the condolence form on this webpage.
