Mary B. (Marlyn) Davis

Predeceased by parents, James & Lily Davis and her sister Elizabeth. Sadly missed by her sisters Anna, Siobhán and Josephine, brothers Paddy and Colin. brothers-in-law Tony Duffy, Connell Gallagher and Seamus McBride, sisters-in-law Dolores and Rose, nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, many close friends and neighbors.

Remains will arrive from New York on Saturday, 19 July and a wake will be held at the family home in Ardabrone, Dromard (F91 Y152) from 6pm. Removal on Sunday, 20 July at 6pm to St. Adamnan’s Church, Skreen, arriving at 6.30 pm.. Requiem Mass on Monday 21 July at 12 noon, burial immediately after in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skreen, Co. Sligo.

No flowers please – donations if desired to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland or Hospice Care Sligo. Friends and neighbours are invited to join the family for refreshments after the funeral at the family home in Ardabrone.

Marlyn started her long nursing career in Killearn, Scotland in 1967, graduating as an LPN. After nursing in London and Dublin, she came to America in 1971. In 1975 she graduated from Misericordia School of Nursing earning her RN. Marlyn went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Pace University and two Masters Degrees, in Nursing Administration and Nursing Education from Columbia University. Marlyn had a varied career in nursing, serving as a school nurse at Trinity School, NYC Upper West Side, and working for an insurance company. She was most proud of her long tenure as a Nursing Administrator at St. Luke’s Hospital (now Mount Sinai Morningside). For many years, Marlyn taught undergraduate nursing students at Lehman College, completing her final semester this past spring.
