The death has occurred of

Mary Margaret (Marie) Hamill
(née O'Donnell)

Dunlavin, Wicklow / Coalisland, Tyrone

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Margaret (Marie) Hamill (née O'Donnell), of Ontario, Canada. Marie was born in Coalisland, Co Tyrone and spent a few very happy years in Dunlavin, Co Wicklow , where she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Frank and son, Stephen.

Marie passed away in Canada, at Fairhaven LTC, surrounded by love and family. Predeceased by her two great loves: her beloved husband Francis Hamill and long time partner, James Hamill , as well as her children, Stephen and baby Francis Blane, mother, father, brothers, and umpteen friends, family members, and loved ones.

She is survived by her children Christopher (Daphne), Sarah (Jim), Colin (Kathy), and Francine (Tony), grandchildren Rebecca, Jennifer (Neill), Sean (Sally Ann), Ciaran (Brona), Liam (Meg), Jessica , Julia (Benjamin), Cara, Richard , Quinn , Emma , and Owen , and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Marie's legacy lives on in her family - raised to approach life with courage, creativity and compassion. As a matriarch, she was generous with her heart, time, knowledge, stories of Ireland, and at times, her legendary lectures.

In the moments following her passing, a rainbow appeared in the sky - taken as a sign that she was at peace, and a calling to bring her home to Ireland.

A funeral Mass will take place this fall at St Nicholas Of Myra Rc Church in Dunlavin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland. The family is greatful for the care provided by the staff at Fairhaven Long-Term care home.
