Mary (Mella) Loughnane
(née Molloy)

Mary Loughnane (nee Molloy) who was fondly known as Mella, Ballaghboy, Shinrone, Birr, Co.Offaly and formerly Kinnitty, Birr, Co. Offaly died on 8th January 2026 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her parents Minnie & Jim, sister Gertie and brother Seamus.

Mella will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving husband Willie (Billy), and her cherished children Al, Ray, Adrian, Edel and Declan, her adored grandchildren Laura, Rachel, Brian, Rebecca, Damien, Margaret, Melissa, Adrian, Joselyn, Sean, Clare, Stephen and Clodagh, great grandchildren, brothers Frank and Liam and sisters Angela, Josie and Nuala, son in law Jim and daughters in law Patricia, Colette and Yvonne.

Grant Mella Eternal Rest and Peace

Reposing on Friday in Treacys Funeral Home, Shinrone (R42 E125) from 4 o'clock until 7 o'clock. Private removal on Saturday to St.Mary's Church, Shinrone (R42 WT26) for funeral mass at 11 o' clock followed by burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Shinrone. Mella's funeral mass can be viewed on Mary Shinrone Facebook page. As per Mella’s wishes family flowers only and no mass cards. House private please.
