Mary O'Connell

On August 20th, 2024, Mary passed peacefully, in her 92nd year, in the wonderful care of the staff at St Joseph’s Unit, Bantry General Hospital. Retired librarian of Bantry Library, Bridge Steet, Bantry. Beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Kate O’Connell, predeceased by her brothers John, Pat, Michael and her sister Eileen. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her extended family, cousins, neighbours and friends.

Mary will repose in Coakley’s Funeral Home, Chapel Street, Bantry, on Wednesday Aug. 21st from 5.30pm to 7pm. with vigil prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday August. 22nd at 12noon at St Finbarr’s Church, Bantry (to view live stream please click here), followed by cremation service at the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy at 3pm.

Mary’s ashes will be interred in the family grave in the Abbey Cemetery after 2pm prayers on Monday October 28th, 2024.
