Mary O'Neill, Lickbarrahan, Cahermore Beara, Co Cork passed away peacefully following a short illness, on Sunday 29th March 2026, at the age of 83, in the care of the staff in Bantry General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernie. Mary will be remembered as a remarkable and selfless mother, and a devoted and adoring Nan. She will be deeply missed by her children, Michael, Allison (Henshaw), Mairéad (Kelly) and Tanya, her daughter-in-law Aileen and her sons-in-law Derek and Noel. Cherished Nan to Gavin, Dean, Seán, Conor, Darragh, Derbhain, Caoimhe, Dylan, Aisling and Clodagh, and a much-loved great-grandmother to Rori-Mae, Féidhlim, Allie, Ayva, and Elianna.
Mary will be sadly missed by her brothers Pat (Garnish) and Michael Joe (Gour), her sister Annette (O'Sullivan, Cork), and her sisters-in-law Margaret and Mary. She will also be fondly remembered by Úna, Julie, Lauren, Hollie, Laura and Daniel. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her extended family, nieces, nephew, grandnieces, grandnephews, her wonderful neighbours and many friends.
The family wish to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. J. Glisson and to the staff of Bantry Hospital, especially those in the Palliative Care Unit, for their exceptional care and kindness.
Reposing in Harringtons Funeral Home in Castletownbere on Tuesday (31st) from 5pm - 7.30pm followed by removal to Mary’s home.
HOUSE PRIVATE.
Requiem mass will take place in St.Michael’s Church in Cahermore on Wednesday (1st April) at 12.30pm followed by burial in the local cemetery.
