Mary Ryan
(née Costelloe)

Mary passed from this life on 14th March 2026, in the wonderful care of the staff in Galway Hospice and surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Pre-deceased by her daughter Áine (2012), her parents Michael and Margaret (Peg) and her sister-in-law Patricia (UK).

Mary will be deeply missed and always remembered by her heartbroken husband Michael (Michéal), her children Ciarán and Laoise and her precious grandchildren Ódhran, Sadhbh, Jack and Michael, her daughter-in-law Kim and son-in-law Joseph.

Mary will be deeply missed by her brothers Tom and Michael, her sisters Josephine (Molyneaux – Tralee) and Bernadette (Kearney – Tralee), her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, members of the extended Ryan and Costelloe families, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Mary will repose in Dignity Funeral Care, funeral home, on the grounds of Portumna Retirement Village (H53 AY18) on Tuesday 17th March from 5pm to 7pm.

Funeral cortége will arrive at St Brigid’s Church, Portumna on Wednesday 18th March at 10.45am for Requiem Mass for Mary at 11am.

Burial will take place immediately afterwards in St Michael’s cemetery, Portumna.

Mary's family would like to sincerely thank all the medical staff that looked after her throughout her illnesses: staff at the Mater and GUH hospitals, her GP's: Dr. Kay Duddy and Dr. Fergil Colohan and also the public and palliative care nurses and the staff at Galway Hospice.
