Mary Shannon (née McCarthy), Baltimore Road, originally Upper Bridge Street, Skibbereen who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 16th April 2026. MARY dearly beloved partner of Eddie Stafford, beloved daughter of the late Paddy and Rita McCarthy, much loved mother of George, Pat, Gordon, Bláithín (O’Shea) and Áine (Minihane), mother-in-law to Gemma, Jacqueline, Varuni, Niall and Brendan, dear sister to Eleanor (RIP), Joan, Ann, Hilary (RIP), Jerome, Martha, Michael, Nollaig and Patrick. Sadly missed by her adored grandchildren Eoin, Aoife, Ava, Oisín, Niamh, Faye, Ayumi, Aiyana, Es, Siobhán, Aidan and Saoirse, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Reposing in Hurley & O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Skibbereen on Friday, 17th April 2026 from 5pm to 7pm followed by Prayers. Requiem Mass on Saturday, 18th April 2026 at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Skibbereen, which will be livestreamed here. Funeral afterwards to St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Coronea, Skibbereen.

The family would like to thank Dr. McPartland and team in Skibbereen Medical Centre, Public Health Nurses Kitty, Marie and Rose, the Palliative Care team, Camille, Pauline and Caroline, Michael McCarthy and staff in Drinagh Pharmacy. Special thanks to Mary’s carers who gave her such loving care, Joanna, Breda, Angie, Ed and team.
