Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday, 29th March 2026 surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of St. Pat’s ward, at University Hospital Galway.
Dearly beloved wife of Tim, and cherished mother of Dermot and Ruth, and of her precious daughters Hazel and Tanya who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her parents Hannah and Joe and by her brother Máirtin.
Mary will be deeply missed by her heartbroken husband, son and daughter, and by her grandsons Jack and Charlie, who meant so much to her.
Very sadly missed by her much-loved sister Eilish, brother Josie, sister-in-law Angela, daughter-in-law Ciara, Ruth’s fiancée Eoghan, nephews and nieces, the extended family, neighbours and many friends.
The Tarpey family would like to express their sincere thanks to all who have supported them during this difficult time, and to acknowledge the care and kindness of the staff in St. Pat’s ward.

Funeral Arrangements
Wednesday, 1st April, 2026
Mary will lie in Repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91 V1K8) from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Thursday, 2nd April, 2026.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Mary on arrival at St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road at 11 a.m. Mass will be livestreamed. st-josephs-church-galway - MCN Following this ceremony, she will be laid to rest and reunited with her daughters in Rahoon cemetery.
Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations (if desired) to the University of Galway, 'Tarpey Scholarship and Bursary' honouring Hazel and Tanya Tarpey, to support the development of student healthcare professionals.
