Matthew (Matt) Ward

The death has occurred of Matthew (Matt) Ward, Gilbert Way, Braintree, Essex, England and formerly of Killygally, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully, at his home, 21st January 2026, aged 85 years.

Predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth, and his sisters Mary (May) Kerley and Kathleen (Kitty) Carrier. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years Mary (May) (née Lennon), his children Elizabeth (Liz), Pauline and David, his sons-in-law Martin & Kenny, daughter-in-law Yvette, his cherished grandchildren Louise, Aiden, Daragh, Ciaran and Erin, his great-grandchildren Emma, Olivia, Riley, Darcie and Elsie, his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace

Matthew’s funeral took place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Braintree, Essex, on Tuesday, 25th February 2026.

A Remembrance Mass will take place on Friday, 24th April 2026, at 9.30am in St. Patrick’s Church (The Rock Chapel), Upper Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, followed by burial in Drumconrath Cemetery, Co. Meath.
