Maureen Scannell

Maureen Scannell (née Gannon), Ballyroe, Tralee and formerly Oakpark, Tralee and Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny, died peacefully on 20th March 2026, following a short illness, in the exceptional care of the staff of the Cardiac unit at the Beacon Hospital, Dublin surrounded by her loving nieces.

Beloved wife of the late Michael Scannell, predeceased by her parents Richard and Mary (née Scott), brothers Jim (died 31st December 2025), Michael, Richard & William, sisters Eleanor and Vera.

Sadly missed by her loving family, sister-in-law Bernie, brother-in-law Johnny, her many nieces, nephews, extended family in Ireland, Australia & America, her friend Marian, her many neighbours and acquaintances.

Rest in Peace.

Maureen will repose at the Gleasure Funeral Home, Tralee, on Wednesday March 25th from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Funeral arriving to St. John’s Church, Tralee on Thursday morning at 9.30 a.m. where the Requiem Mass for Maureen will be celebrated at 10.00 a.m. (streamed on www.stjohns.ie). Interment afterwards in Old Rath Cemetery, Tralee.
