Michael Oliver Egenton (Fanwood NJ USA, and formerly Oldcastle, Co Meath)

It is with deep sadness that Michael’s wife Katherine (née Ryan) and their children Róisín and Cormac share the news of his death on Thursday 24 July 2025 at Inglemoor Rehab & Care Center in Livingston, NJ, USA.

Born in Gortloney, Dromone, Oldcastle, County Meath, Michael emigrated to the USA in 1965, living first in Alabama and then moving to New Jersey where he resided until he passed.

Michael is predeceased by his beloved parents William and Frances, and his dear brother John. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of his family in particular his son-in-law Nicky Lawless; his two cherished grandchildren, Aedín and Darragh Lawless; his siblings William (Bill / Liamy), Margaret (Peg) O’Meara, Elizabeth (Lily) Hanglow, and Frances Beatty; and by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
while I stand on the roadway, upon the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core

Reposing at Rossi Funeral Home, Scotch Plains, NJ from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday 30 July. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Michael at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church at 10am on Thursday 31 July. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia NJ.
