Michael O'Higgins

Michael died peacefully at Castlegar Nursing home on Sunday 10th August 2025, at 84 years old.

Beloved brother of Marette Gannon (USA), predeceased by sister Pauline Connolly and brother Pat and their respective spouses. Cherished uncle to Avril and Sundara O’Higgins, John Connolly, and Sharon Curtis (nee Connolly). He will be sadly missed by all cousins, especially Mary Finn and Micheál O’Higgins, partners of his nieces and nephews (John, Eoghan, Jill, and Peter), grand nieces and nephews (Keela, Bethany, Alex, Andrea, Daniel, Dean, Dylan), all extended family especially Louise Byrne, plus neighbours and friends.

A private cremation took place on Tuesday 12th August 2025 in accordance with Michael’s wishes.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratefulness to Michael’s local neighbours, community, staff, and social workers at UCHG, community health care nurses, home help carers, and most notably all at Castlegar Nursing Home for all the attention, support, and care given to Michael over recent years.
