Michael (Mickey) Mongey

The death has occurred of Michael (Mickey) Mongey O 'Growney Tce,. Kells, Co. Meath 25th July 2023. Aged 87 years. Peacefully at our Lady’s Hospital Navan, in the loving care of the wonderful nursing and medical staff and the company of his family. Michael was predeceased by his loving wife Philomena and is survived by his daughters Annie and Tina, sons Johnny and Alan, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family, friends and in-laws especially his daughter in law Nell who was totally dedicated to his care over the past number of years.

Michael will repose at his family home A82 X2VO on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. House Private on Friday morning for family only, please. Removal on Friday morning at 10.30 am to arrive at St Colmcille’s Church, Kells for Funeral Mass at 11am which can be viewed on www.kells parish.ie followed by burial in St Colmcilles Cemetery.

Michael will be fondly remembered as a very friendly and sociable person who had a very varied working career in Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, Southborough Kells, Spicers Bakery Kells, Kearneys Crossakiel, and also had his own window cleaning business in the Kells area and an upholstery business for many years.

In any of his workplaces he was highly respected and noted as an honest decent gentleman. For many years he was a member of the E Company 7th Infantry Battalion of the FCA and served the Battalion with great diligence. His warm personality will be greatly missed in the community of Kells.
