Predeceased by his parents Patricia and Patrick Byrne, and his brother Seán Byrne.

Mike will be deeply mourned by his loving family — his brother Kevin, sisters Colleen, Sinéad and Lorraine, his beloved daughter Louise, brother-in-law David, nieces and nephews, extended family, and his many friends. A stalwart of the Galway arts scene, Mike worked with theatres and performance spaces throughout the city and around the country. His creativity, warmth and generosity of spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Arrangements

Mike will repose at Conneely’s Funeral Home, Flood Street, Galway, on Thursday, 29th January 2026, from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. This will be followed by a Celebration of Mike’s Life at the Town Hall Theatre, from 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m., where family and friends are welcomed to gather in his memory. A private cremation will take place thereafter.

Mike’s family wish to express their heartfelt thanks for the extraordinary generosity shown through the GoFundMe collection for his funeral expenses. The response far exceeded expectations, and once Mike’s affairs are concluded, any remaining funds will be donated to charity in his memory. The family are deeply comforted by the love shown for Mike and are especially grateful to Mike O’Halloran for leading this effort.
