MC GRATH (nee Fahey) Monica. Late of the Silver Spruce, Church Street, Gort, Co. Galway. Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on the 27th of January, 2026, in the tender care of the staff of Rosemount Nursing Home, Gort.

 

Pre-deceased by her parents Martin and Teresa Fahey and recently by her sister Mary Collins, by other much loved family members and many friends.

 

We announce the sad passing of our beloved Monica, a beautiful kind person and great Gort lady who will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Cherished and much loved Monica will be sadly missed by her husband and best friend Damien, adored mother of Ingrid, Adrian, Fabian and Renagh. Fondly remembered by her sons-in-law Tom Donnellan, Thomas Burke, daughter-in-law Marie, and by her loving grandchildren Oren, Cliodhna, Tomás, Oisín, Isabelle and Bronagh. Sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, cousins, lovely neighbours, many loyal friends and by the extended Mc Grath and Fahey families.

Monica will lie in repose in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Thursday evening, January 29th, from 5.30pm until 7pm. Private removal from her residence on Friday January 30th with the funeral cortége arriving at St. Colman’s Church, Gort for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Monica will be laid to rest afterwards in St. Colman’s cemetery Gort. House private please. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her memory to Western Alzheimers Society Of Ireland.

The family deeply appreciates your kindness and support at this time. A special word of thanks to all who cared for Monica over the years. Finally much gratitude to our kind neighbours and friends for all they have done for us over these difficult days.
