Founding Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Absecon age 94. Predeceased by his parents Micheal & Margaret Coyne, brothers & sisters.
Very sadly missed by his sister Chris Coyne, Claremorris, Sister-in-law Brena Coyne, Kentstown, Brother-in-law Ray Kinsella London, all his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins, friends and parishioners.Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Absecon, died Dec. 31.
Msgr. Coyne was a priest of the Diocese of Camden for 69 years. Upon news of his death, those he served noted,
Msgr. Coyne loved his priestly vocation and mission. [He] was known for his commitment to his parishioners.
He was born June 3, 1930, in County Mayo, Ireland, and was one of nine children. He studied at Saint John's Seminary in Waterford, Ireland.
Ordained a priest of the Diocese of Camden on June 19, 1955, his first assignment was as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart in Camden, from 1955 to 1960
A viewing, beginning with the Rite of Reception of the Body, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 5-8 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon.
An additional viewing will be held at the parish on Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, from 9-10:45a.m. Bishop Dennis Sullivan will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Father Patrick Brady will give the homily.
The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
