(née Hickey)

Dowd, Nancy (Nee Hickey) Ballyannan, Midleton and late of Ferbane, Co. Offaly. On June 22nd, 2020 peacefully, after a short illness in the tender loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Nancy, who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years, Benny, her children Fiona Alonso, (Madrid), Ben (Bucks, UK), Caitriona (Canberra, Aus) Brian (London), Conor (Cobh), Liam & Ronan (Midleton) and grandchildren Elisa, Clara, Finn, Conor, Kieran, Orla, Ruairi, Darragh, Niamh, Gabriel, Sophia, Enzo, Harry, Kate, Callum and Ellie.

Nancy was predeceased by her brothers Paddy, Paschal, Fr Liam Hickey and her sister Maureen McCabe.

Nancy will be sadly missed also by her sons-in-law Quino & Kristen and daughters- in-law Claire, Audrey, Ana, Michelle, her brother in-law Noel, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Due to the Government and H.S.E. guidelines Nancy’s Funeral Mass and burial will be confined to family only. The family would like to thank everybody for their co-operation in these difficult times.

Nancy’s Funeral Mass will be live streamed on both Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ofarrellfuneralcork and Midleton Parish Saorview at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 27th followed by burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers to St. Vincent de Paul.

Nancy Dowd, a woman who made it her life’s work to care for others, her husband, her children, her mother-in-law and throughout her career as a midwife and in later years as a nurse in a nursing home. She was selfless, kind, strong spirited, a keen bridge player and was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.
