Patricia Erinos Germaine Brennan-Craddock (neé McCarthy) passed away peacefully at her home in Winsley, near Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire at 11pm, Tuesday 10 January in her 97th year. She was cremated at Semington, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire on Friday 17 February.
Her daughter was at her bedside when Pat slipped away peacefully, with her rosary in her hand. Two carers who were also present lit candles and sang 'Oh when the Saints go marching in' in quiet harmony, then, at Pat’s nieces’s request, opened the window in the old tradition to let her soul pass.
She was a beloved daughter of the late Patrick James and Mary Louise McCarthy of College Street, Clonmel, and was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-six years, John Algernon Brennan-Craddock.
Patricia was beloved; a mother to Charles, Susan, John and Robert Michael, a grandmother of ten grandchildren and great grandmother to Jack and Phoebe.
Whilst time and distance separated her from her Irish family she loved to keep in touch and looked forward to regular phone-calls from Sheila, Donal, Marylou and Betty as well as occasional visits from and to her wider family.
It was her wish to return to the country she loved, Ireland, and the family is grateful that Betty McCarthy gave permission for her ashes to be interred in the McCarthy family grave in St Patricks Cemetery, Clonmel in a short ceremony to be held at noon on Wednesday 26 April 2023.
May her gentle soul rest in peace
