The death has occurred of
Paul John Whistler
The Whistler family are very sad to announce the passing of Paul John Whistler on May 21st, 2023. Paul had been suffering health issues for a long time. He required urgent heart surgery after suffering his 3rd heart attack which unfortunately he never recovered from. The toll of diabetes and heart disease got the better of him but now he no longer feels pain or anxiety.
In his younger days Paul loved playing sport. He was a brilliant footballer, and as well as playing for various local teams, he would look forward to his kick about in Bushy Park, Terenure, in his home city of Dublin with his friends the most of all. On trips home to Dublin from UK he would always try to make it there if he could to rejoin the lads. Football was a passion.
He enjoyed a long and colourful career spanning market stalls, HR and finally settling as an IT specialist until his recent retirement.
He is loved dearly by those he left behind. The loving matriarch of the Whistlers, our Auntie Anna. His loyal and faithful partner Christina. His loving children Maria and partner Tom, Anthony and his wife Laura in Malaysia, Tom and new wife May, and myself Alan and my wife Najwa. His adoring grandchildren Rita Rose, Charlotte and Ashley Gould, and little Fionn Whistler in Malaysia, of whom he was so so proud. Sporting the next generation, Ashley is nearly full term with Paul's first great grandchild. Paul also leaves behind his very very close siblings Valerie, her husband John, Paul's friend from primary school, Bernadette and her husband Colm, and Anthony and his wife Pauline. His many adoring nephews, nieces, godchildren, and of course his many cousins from all over the globe. He cherished you all. He told me so.
Paul earned himself a wealth of wonderful friends. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness, willingness to help anyone and his generosity. He enjoyed nothing more than inviting his family and friends for huge feasts in his favourite Chinatown restaurants and arriving 30 mins before anyone else so he could leave his card behind the bar to cover the entire costs. Generous to a fault perhaps but it gave him such pleasure. We are finding out he quietly helped more people than we can imagine from scrolling through his old messages. He truly was a gentleman.
We miss you already.
