On Friday, the 27th of February, 2026, Phil passed away very peacefully at University Hospital Galway, with her loving family by her side.
Beloved wife of the late Jimmy, loving daughter of the late Michael and Mary Hession and dear sister of the late May, Bridie and Frank.
Phil will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving children Sarah, Ursula, John and Maura, son-in-law Seamus, grandchildren James (and his wife Aimee), David (and his wife Niamh), Dean, Amy and Tara, great-grandchildren Ruairí, Mark and Sam, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Irwin’s Funeral Home, Bóthar Irwin, Galway (H91 CK84), on Tuesday the 3rd of March from 5pm until 6:30pm. Funeral will arrive at The Abbey Church, St. Francis Street, Galway (H91 C53K), on Wednesday the 4th of March for Requiem Mass at 10:30am. Phil will then be laid to rest with her late husband Jimmy, in The New Cemetery, Bohermore (H91 V97C).

Parking: There is ample parking available at The Corrib Shopping Centre Multi-Story Car Park (H91 DP6R) which is only 2 minutes walk to/from the funeral home. The entrance to the car park is from Bóthar Na mBan. Please note that this car park will close at 7pm on Tuesday evening.
