The death has occurred of Philomena (Phil) Banks (née Gaffney), Alderford, Ballyfarnon, Boyle, Co Roscommon, August 12th 2023, peacefully, surrounded by her loving and devoted family and in the tender care of the I.C.U. staff at Sligo University Hospital. Pre-deceased by her husband Pat, parents Peter and Bridget, sister Mary-Rose and brother Martin. Philomena will be sadly missed by her loving daughters Theresa, Angela, Mary and son Peter, sons-in-law Des and Ian, daughter-in-law Yvonne, her adoring grandchildren, Marc, Emma-Rose, Andrew, Chelsey, Ryan, Alex and Charlie, sisters Breege (England) and Kathleen, (Blacklion) brother Paddy (Leixlip), sisters-in-law Annie, Chris and May, brothers-in-law Tommy, Johnny, Fr. Peter, Stephen and Gerry, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. “May Philomena’s gentle soul rest in peace”

Reposing at Shivnan Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon, on Tuesday evening (August 15th) from 5.30 p.m. until 7.45 p.m., followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyfarnon, arriving 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon, interment afterwards in Kilronan Cemetery.
