Chris passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27th after a long illness, bravely borne, in the company of his family at the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Beloved husband of Andrea and loving father to Emily (O’ Donnell), Stephen and Eoghan. Chris will be sadly missed by his wife, daughter and sons, son-in-law, daughters-in-law and by his adored grandchildren. Deeply missed also by his brother Peter and wife Birgitta, nephews and nieces, relatives, close friends and neighbours and a wide circle of former colleagues at the University of Galway.

Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway H91 V1K8 from 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Sunday, October 5th 2025
A Cremation Service will be celebrated in loving memory of Chris at Shannon Crematorium at 1p.m.
