Ray died peacefully, in the care of the staff at Áras Chois Fharraige, Spiddal, where he recently resided after devoted care at home from his heartbroken wife, Patricia.
Deeply mourned and forever missed by Patricia and his sons Greg, Ken, Niall and Francis, his daughters-in-law Ann, Ailbhe, Hayley and Boom, and his eight cherished grandchildren Pat, Mariam, Alesha, Sheena, Jasmine, Caoilte, Líadán and Éimhín. Ray will also be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his brothers Aiden and Noel and sisters-in-law Mary and Mary, and all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, the extended Heffernan and O' Dea family, as well as his neighbours in Lower Salthill and his former colleagues in T.Ó hUiginn, Shantalla.
Predeceased by his mother Kathleen and his father, John, his sisters Bridie, Kathleen, Mary, Rita, Madge, Rosaleen and Nuala, and his brothers Jack and Brendan, also remembering his brother Charles.
Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway, H91V1K8 on Tuesday, 18 June 2024 from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to Christ the King Church, Salthill. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Ray at 11 a.m. on Wednesday 19 June. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Rahoon Cemetery.
