A well-travelled man!

 

Ray died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, 30th January, 2026 in Galway in the loving care of his son Padraic.

Dearly beloved husband of the late Maura (née O’Toole), brother of the late Denis and Jimmy and brother-in-law of very recently deceased Enda O’Toole.

Much loved father of Denis, Martin, Deirdre, Reddy, John and Padraic. Ray will be very sadly missed and mourned by his daughter and sons, much loved sister Breda, daughters-in -law and partners, grandchildren of which he was very proud, the extended Whelan and O'Toole family, neighbours and friends.

 

We lay a gentle man,

a good husband, father, brother and grandfather

a Cork Man originally and a great character to rest

Funeral Arrangements

Wednesday, 4th February, 2026

Ray will lie in Repose at the O’ Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91V1K8) from 3 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

 

Thursday, 5th February, 2026

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Ray on arrival at St. Mary’s Church, Ballygar at 11 a.m. (F42 YD83)

Mass will be live streamed on Ballygar – ChurchTV and also available on local radio 106.5 FM, Mass will be followed by a Committal Service at Shannon Crematorium at 4 p.m.
