Reverend Fr. Declan Deasy O.S.A.

Fr. Declan Deasy O.S.A. born Billy Deasy, died peacefully on September 24th 2025, at the age of 94, in the 69th year of his priesthood.

Pre-deceased by his parents, Geraldine and Michael, his sisters Eilish and June, and his brothers Austin, Declan, Joe and Pat.

He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, extended family, his Augustinian confrères, and the many friends he made all over the world.

A native of Dungarvan Co. Waterford, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1956. He served as a secondary school teacher in Carlisle (England) for 20 years. He also served faithfully in various ministries throughout his life, including Cuba, Mexicali (Mexico), Chone (Ecuador), Buena Park, California (USA), Rome (Italy), Limerick, Dungarvan Co. Waterford and Galway.

Reposing in Conneely's Funeral Home, Flood Street, Galway (H91 A786) on Friday 26th September from 5.30pm. Removal at 7pm to St. Augustine’s Church, Middle Street, Galway. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 27th September at 11am. Burial will take place on Inisturk Island Co. Mayo on Monday 29th September.
