Richard Martin O’Dea, Kiltrogue, Claregalway, County Galway.

Richard passed away peacefully in West Roxbury, Boston surrounded by his loving family on April 18, 2022.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Josephine O’Dea (nee Costello) and his sister Bernie Hession and sister in-law Peggy O’Dea.

 

Beloved husband of 40 years to Kathleen M. O’Dea (nee Ahearn) and devoted father to Michael Patrick O’Dea of West Roxbury and Megan Marchese and her husband Andrew of Holliston. Cherished grandfather of Evelyn and Vivian Marchese.

Sadly missed by his family, brothers Dermot, Gerard, Michael John and Martin (Boston), sisters Mary Kirwan (Clonara), Freda Morrissey (Athenry) and Teresa Kilgarriff (Lackagh), many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Ireland, relatives and friends.

 

 

Richard was a long time employee of the Boston Housing Authority and proud member of the Boston Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ Local 534, and a member of the Galway Hurling Club Boston.

Funeral Arrangements

 

Funeral Mass for Richard O’Dea will take place at Our Lady’s Chapel, Lackagh (H65 N129) on Saturday morning May 28th at 11.00am followed by Interment of his ashes alongside his parents in Lackagh Cemetery.

 

 

Mass will be live-streamed on www.lackaghchurchliveyoutube and also broadcast on parish radio, 106.9 FM.

 

 

 

Previous Message

Relatives and friends may kindly attend visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Friday, April 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The remains of Richard will leave the funeral home on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre St.
West Roxbury, MA 02132 at 10 o’clock.

Interment of his ashes will take place in Lackagh Old Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
