Robert Glen

GLEN (Schull, Co. Cork): On 28th October 2023, peacefully, in Cork University Hospital, ROBERT (late of Tanzania, East Africa).

Died: 28 October 2023

 

Robert died in Ireland and will be sadly missed by his partner Susan Stolberger, his children - Traci, Kerry and Mark. Julia Glen, Cath Keese and the rest of his family and friends will also miss him.

 

He led a full life as a naturalist and sculptor and has not only discovered a new species of vesper bat in Uganda but he also sculpted the largest equestrian sculpture in the world at Las Colinas, Texas. He is well known in the world of ornithology of East Africa and respected in all of these fields.

 

To those that know him they will remember his talent as a rally car driver in East Africa and his excellent humour.

 

Robert was cremated on 7th November at the Island Crematorium in Cork, Ireland and his ashes will be taken to Kenya and Tanzania at a later date. There was a small gathering in Schull, Ireland on the 8th and in time there will be memorials to celebrate his fantastic life in Kenya and Tanzania.
